Capabilities

Brand (/brand) is the one place your brand lives. Every Kontext module that makes something for you, or shows a page to a customer, reads it from here. A brand has six parts:

The Brand studio builds a brand for you. Press Design my brand, then give it your website, a look you like, photos of what you have, or a few words. It offers one to three Directions. Use this direction keeps one. Not right? Say what saves your note as a rule. With several brands, Make default picks the one Kontext uses.

What uses the default brand on its own (things Kontext makes for you): Media (videos, thumbnails, captions and ads; Media keeps no brand of its own), new Kontext Docs (unless a Docs kit is the default), the Marketing team, and the business name in emails (and the logo in journal emails that have none).

Where you switch it on: nothing a stranger sees changes on its own.

What stays as it is: a page with its own chosen look keeps it (your brand fills only what it leaves unset). Shared link previews stay Kontext. Help Desk and Community email colours and logo are still Kontext's. "Powered by Kontext" stays in a branded footer.

Headless: Jarvis or any MCP client with your ktx_ key can use kontext_brand_manage (list, read, save a part, set the default, delete, set_pages_wear_brand, set_apps_use_brand) and kontext_address_manage (list, check a name, claim, point at a page, release). Only the workspace owner can.

User journeys

BR-01. Set up your brand

Path: Module switcher → Brand · /brand

You do:

  1. Press Design my brand and give the studio your website, a picture or a few words, or fill Identity yourself.
  2. Pick a direction with Use this direction, then Keep this as my brand.
  3. Press Make default if you have more than one brand.

Result: Media, Docs and the Marketing team now use it. Your public pages keep the Kontext look until you switch them on (BR-02).

BR-02. Put a public page in your brand

Path: Brand → Identity → Pages that wear this brand, then the page's own module (e.g. Marketplace → Store settings)

You do:

  1. Switch on the kind of page (for example Community) and press Save.
  2. In that page's module, find the address field (Your store's own address, Its own address, …).
  3. Type a name and press Use this address, then wait a few minutes for it to answer.

Result: On that address the page wears your logo, colours and type. Pages you left off keep the Kontext look, and every kontext.network link stays a Kontext page.

BR-03. Build apps in your brand

Path: Brand → Identity, then App Studio chat

You do:

  1. Turn on Build my new apps in this brand.
  2. For an app you already have, say "use my brand" in App Studio chat.

Result: The app uses your colours and type, its sign-in names your brand, and its footer reads © {your brand} · Powered by Kontext.

BR-04. Teach the brand a rule

Path: Brand → Rules, or a studio direction → Not right? Say what

You do:

  1. Write what the brand always or never does (for example, "never use stock photos of people").

Result: Apps, Media, documents and the Marketing team follow it from then on.

How it works

One brand book is stored in your workspace. Every module reads that book, and none keeps its own copy. A page shown on its own address reads your public brand parts (Identity, System) and dresses its header, footer and type only when its kind is switched on. A new app reads the default brand only if the switch is on. An app you restyled carries a marker, so every later update keeps the brand.

Benefits

Who it's for

Primary: business owners and creators who sell, teach or publish to their own customers. Not: people who only use Kontext for themselves. Without a brand, everything stays Kontext.
