Ignition
/ignition · version 3.13 · 2026-10-06
Capabilities
Ignition (/ignition) is where you back a campaign, or run your own. Search: Search campaigns, creators or @handles. Signed out, the button is Start a campaign. Signed in, it is Your campaigns.
The front door shows live campaigns. A paid placement is labelled Featured. If nothing is live, the page says No campaign is live yet.
Run your own campaign. The desk is /ignition/manage. A campaign can sell a subscription to your Kontext app, a marketplace listing, or something you sell on your own site. App and listing checkout are built in, and the page shows a live backer count. A campaign that only links out does not show a count.
Starter runs one live campaign, Developer three, Pro and up as many as you like. A campaign that is already live keeps selling if you drop a tier; you just cannot open another past the new limit. There is no review before a campaign goes public. The platform can take one down; that page says This campaign is unavailable.
A public campaign is /ignition/@handle/slug. /founding opens the Kontext team’s current campaign.
The band at the bottom is Run your own campaign. The three steps are Tell the story, Add rewards, and Go live. Each reward sells one of your plans or listings, so the price shown is the price charged.
Sales from a campaign are the same sales Seller Hub and Business → Payments already show.
User journeys
IG-01. Browse campaigns
Path: Module switcher → Ignition · /ignition
You do:
- Open Ignition.
- Search by campaign, creator, or @handle, or browse the live list.
- Open a campaign. A Featured label means that spot was paid for.
Result: You are on that creator’s campaign page. Backing it uses the checkout on the page.
IG-02. Run a campaign
Path: Start a campaign or Your campaigns · /ignition/manage
You do:
- Sign in. You need a workspace and a paid plan. Starter can have one live campaign.
- Tell the story, add rewards, and go live.
- Share
/ignition/@handle/your-address.
Result: The campaign is on the Ignition front door. Closing it writes the final count. Reopening starts the count again from what it had really sold.
IG-03. Open the Kontext team campaign
Path: /founding
You do:
- Open
/founding. - You land on the team’s current live campaign. If none is live, you see the latest one, and it says it has closed.
Result: /founding follows whichever team campaign is current. It is one campaign among the others, run from the team account.
How it works
Campaigns are stored on the creator’s workspace. Going live also lists the campaign so the front door can find it. A subscription sold here is a Kontext app subscription: the buyer signs in, and the app can check that this Kontext identity holds the plan. The app does not receive the identity itself. One sale is written once, and Seller Hub and Business read that same record.
Benefits
- A creator can sell an app subscription, a marketplace listing, or an outside offer from one campaign page.
- Backers and the creator see the same count. A campaign with nothing to count does not pretend it has zero sales.
Who it's for
Anyone can browse and back a campaign. Running one needs a workspace on Starter or above. Not: a Kontext Social challenge (Join Challenge). Not the phone-registration “campaign” on the texting form. Not Business inbox broadcasts.
